Privacy policy

Last updated: August 19 2026

This website is operated by Matthew Ryan Cohn, MD.
It is an informational site about Dr. Cohn's practice in shoulder and elbow surgery.

This site does not collect personal information from visitors.
There is no appointment form, no patient portal, no account login, and no newsletter signup.
You can read every page here without giving us anything.

Booking an appointment happens on Summit Health's website

To request an appointment, this site links you to Dr. Cohn's provider profile on summithealth.com. Once you follow that link, you are on Summit Health's website, and Summit Health's privacy practices apply, not ours. We do not receive, see, or store anything you enter there.

Their policies:

The same is true of any other outside site we link to, including the Athena patient portal, PubMed, Google, and YouTube.

What is collected automatically

This site is hosted on Squarespace. Like nearly every website, Squarespace's servers automatically log routine technical information when a page is requested — IP address, browser and device type, the page you came from, and which pages you viewed — and set cookies necessary for the site to display correctly and to produce aggregate visitor counts.

We use this only to understand in the aggregate which pages are useful. It is not used to identify individual visitors, is not sold, and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers. We do not run advertising pixels or third-party tracking on this site.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Doing so will not prevent you from reading this site.

Appointment Callback Requests

If you use the callback form on our Make an Appointment page, we collect only your name and telephone number. This information is sent by email to our office and is used solely to contact you by phone to schedule an appointment. Please do not include any medical details or other personal health information in this form.

If you email us

If you email an address listed on this site, we receive whatever you choose to send. Ordinary email is not a secure or confidential way to send medical information. Please do not email symptoms, medical history, test results, images, or insurance identifiers.

If you are an established patient, use the Athena patient portal, which is encrypted and connects to your medical record. For an urgent question, call (908) 277-8704, option 6. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911.

Emails to this site are not part of your medical record. Clinical communication belongs in the patient portal.

Relationship to Summit Health

Dr. Cohn practices at Summit Health. This website is operated independently and is not a Summit Health website. Information you provide to Summit Health — through their website, the patient portal, at an office visit, or by phone — is governed by Summit Health's Notice of Privacy Practices, linked above. This policy covers only this website.

Your choices

Because this site does not collect personal information, there is generally nothing for us to look up, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold information about you and want it addressed, write to Mcohn2@summithealth.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. Requests about your medical record should go to Summit Health.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. The "last updated" date above will change when we do.
